Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak
Chad Lennen from Tarpon Springs, FL, along with his co-workers from Southwest Airlines, chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316.
Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling the reefs with one a #8 and a #6 plainer, one with a pink and blue sea witch and the other with a blue and white sea witch in front of double hooked Bonito strips. For surface baits, we went with two Bonito strips and two Ballyhoos.
As we trolled the reefs, all of the anglers took turns reeling in their catches – five Kingfish and three Bonitos. From there the anglers wanted to do some Shark fishing so I headed out to 350 ft. of water and put out three Shark baits – one bottom, one midrange and one surface. As the anglers were enjoying the sunny Fort Lauderdale weather, the bottom rod bent over. Hooked up. The line peeled off of the 80 International Reel. Chad was our angler and he hopped into the fighting chair. The tug of war went on for 1 ½ hours – finally, Dave, our mate, wired the Hammerhead Shark. Photos were taken and the Shark was released to fight again. Congratulations to our tired angler – job well done, Chad.
It was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316, while watching the plasma TV.
