Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Stephen Johnson, Bob Simpson, Angi Smithling and Andy Robbins were all down in Fort Lauderdale for a convention and decided to charter the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Winds were out of the east at 6 mph and seas running 3-4 ft., temperatures in the high 80’s.
Stephen, an avid fisherman from Boynton Beach, arranged this “fishing meeting” aboard the Happy Day Today here in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, located 1.8 miles from shore. As we started off trolling the reefs, our main objective was to catch dinner for the group. Our first bite was on the plainer rod – Bob was our angler and he reeled in a Wahoo, the fastest swimming fish in the ocean clocked at 64 mph; it is also an excellent eating fish. From there we trolled a little further off shore where a weed line was forming. The outrigger came down – Steve was our angler and he reeled in a Mahi Mahi. Afterwards we caught a couple of shorts, which were returned and later caught four Tunas.
With a good amount of eating fish for dinner tonight, it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. Steven remarked how happy he was that we had a/c in the salon making the ride back to the dock comfortable for him and his guests.
