Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing Report – Top Shot Sportfishing Charters
The offshore fishing action aboard the Happy Day Today has been producing some fantastic catches lately, and anglers from all over the country have been enjoying memorable days on the water with Top Shot Sportfishing Charters. From Wahoo and Tuna to Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, and Grouper, the waters off Fort Lauderdale have been full of life. Here is a recap of some of our recent deep sea fishing adventures.
Trip 1 – Hermann and Family from Fort Myers
Hermann and his kids from Fort Myers joined us for a half-day deep sea fishing charter aboard the Happy Day Today. The weather was beautiful, and it didn’t take long before the rods started bending. The highlight of the trip came when the crew hooked into a powerful 30-pound Wahoo. After a fast-paced battle, the fish was successfully brought to the boat and everyone was excited to get photos with this prized game fish.
Later in the trip, the action continued when another rod doubled over and produced a solid 18-pound Blackfin Tuna. The family had a great time working together and enjoying the excitement of offshore fishing. At the end of the trip, we filleted the fish so Hermann could take home some fresh seafood for the family. He enjoyed the experience so much that he has already booked another trip with us in July. We look forward to seeing him and the kids again soon.

Trip 2 – Repeat Customers from Upstate New York
Dave, his wife, and son from Upstate New York returned for another afternoon fishing charter with us. Repeat customers are always special because they know what to expect and are eager to get right back into the action.
We started trolling the reef just outside Fort Lauderdale and immediately found hungry fish. The rods were constantly getting attention as we worked the productive reef edge. Throughout the afternoon, the family put together a nice catch of King Mackerel and Blackfin Tuna. The fishing stayed steady, and everyone had plenty of opportunities to battle fish and enjoy the beautiful South Florida waters.
It’s always great to fish with returning clients, and we appreciate Dave and his family choosing Top Shot Sportfishing Charters once again.

Trip 3 – Greg’s Bucket List Sailfish
Greg traveled from North Carolina with one goal in mind—to catch a Sailfish. After discussing the plan, we headed offshore and deployed a spread of live baits in an area known for producing these incredible billfish.
The wait wasn’t long before one of the baits got crushed and a Sailfish came flying out of the water. The fish put on an incredible aerial display with multiple jumps and long runs. Greg stayed focused throughout the fight and eventually brought the fish boat-side.
There were plenty of smiles and high-fives as Greg crossed a Sailfish off his bucket list. Watching anglers accomplish fishing goals like this is one of the most rewarding parts of our job. Congratulations, Greg!

Trip 4 – Offshore Action with Anthony from Utah
Anthony from Utah joined us for a six-hour morning deep sea fishing charter looking to experience the best offshore fishing Fort Lauderdale has to offer. The conditions were favorable, and the fish were ready to cooperate.
The action started offshore when we located a school of Mahi Mahi. The bright colors and acrobatic fights made for an exciting morning as Anthony landed five nice Mahi Mahi. As if that wasn’t enough, the Blackfin Tuna bite turned on as well.
By the end of the trip, Anthony had landed six Blackfin Tuna to go along with the Mahi Mahi catch. The coolers were filling up, and the excitement never seemed to slow down. It was one of those trips that reminds us why South Florida is considered one of the best year-round fishing destinations in the world.

Trip 5 – Grouper on the Drop-Off
Justin joined us for a morning fishing charter and wanted to try some bottom fishing along the deep-water drop-off. We positioned the boat over productive structure and dropped baits to the bottom in search of quality reef fish.
The strategy paid off when Justin hooked into a powerful fish that immediately tried to return to the structure below. After a tough battle and some careful rod work, he successfully landed a beautiful Grouper. Grouper are always a welcome catch and provide some of the best table fare available in South Florida waters.
Congratulations to Justin on a great fish and a memorable day aboard the Happy Day Today.
