Dennis and Jackie from New Jersey's charter. The Wahoo we caught is a smaller one which we call a Weehoo. We like big Wahoo's but will take the small one's too. They are tastey palegic species of fish. Wahoo averaging around 25 to 30 pounds and they migrate off fort lauderdale and south florida waters with the current and bait schools. Wahoo are not sold on menu's in Ft. Lauderdale however at high end restaurants in Fort Lauderdale you will see Wahoo as a Chef's special. This one we call a Weehoo, its simply a smaller version of the average size Wahoo.
In targeting Wahoo, we also catch Mahi-Mahi and Sailfish. Our best depth off Ft. Lauderdale has been fishing in 500 feet of water. The best fishing tackle has been strip baits, skirts, ballyhoo and lures.
Our 46' Hatteras has the ability to fish offshore of Ft. Lauderdale 15 to 25 miles to find the fish. We usually do not fish offshore 25 miles unless we have an all day fishing charter. On a half day fishing charter, we can fish 10 miles and still have very productive fishing charter.
Now today the 13th is an ideal day to be offshore. The weather is calm, the seas are flat and is easy run offshore Fort Lauderdale.
If you are interested in a fishing charter, please contact the captain to reserve your fishing trip. Captain Tommy Zsak can be reached at
