Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Josh Leake and girlfriend, Dana Westmareland from Kentucky along with Lou Keammerer from Fort Lauderdale chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some big game deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Variable winds were out of the west with overcast skies, temperatures in the mid 80’s, seas running 2-3 ft.
Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, which is 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two plainers down, one with a 3 ˝ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a blue and white sea witch in front of a double hooked Ballyhoo. For surface baits we had two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. With blue waters in on the second reef and schools of flying fish busting, it looked like a very promising fishing day. As I trolled the reef, criss-crossing some of the 34 artificial wrecks we have here in Fort Lauderdale, the action was non-stop. Everybody took turns bringing in the fish ending up with 11 Kingfish, 10 Bonitos, and two Barracudas with Lou reeling in a 23 lb. Wahoo.
With fish on the menu for tonight’s dinner, all the anglers retired into the a/c salon for a relaxing ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
