Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Pat Waldron along with his sons, Jonah and Sam, from Iowa chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL. Winds were out of the southwest at 15 mph, temperatures were in the high 70’s.
We stopped to purchase a dozen live Goggle Eyes from T&T Bait on our way out. Fifteen minutes later, we were flying two kites in 145 ft. of water off of the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, FL. A dorsal fin appeared on the right short kite with bill out of the water frantically attacking the live bait and then exiting the water, greyhounding towards the boat – this was a “hot” Sailfish. Jonah was our angler as he hobbled into the fighting chair due to the cast he had on his leg from an injury while playing Soccer. Mark cleared all our lines concentrating on bringing the fish in as the Sailfish changed directions numerous times. Finally, the 89” Sailfish was brought into the boat for picture taking and release.
After the Sailfish, Pat and Sam brought in a couple of Kingfish and Mahi Mahi’s. Tomorrow there plans were to go to Key West and do some more fishing there.
The anglers retired into the a/c salon aboard the Happy Day Today for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
