Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Father and son bonding time Miranda Roop and son, Bryson, from Kentucky were vacationing here in sunny Fort Lauderdale, FL and decided to do some deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL aboard the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team.
Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock we were at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, FL in 120 ft. of water, 1.8 miles from shore. Winds were out of the east northeast at 15 mph with blue water reaching the second reef. We trolled to the south to one of the 34 artificial wrecks located in Fort Lauderdale, FL to do some live bait kite fishing. With two plainers down and four surface baits, our first fish caught was a Black Fin Tuna followed by six more Tunas. Upon arriving at the wreck, we set out two kites with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite. A black shadow appeared on the right short kite dorsal fin out of the water, attacking the live Goggle Eye hooked up and off we went. As he exited the water gray-hounding away from the boat, the size of the Sailfish was still impressive. Eleven year old Bryson was the angler while his father cheered him on. Bryson did a fantastic job bringing in his first Sailfish, and he remarked, This fish fights a lot harder than the Bass I catch in the lake back home. Jackson, our mate, put the Sailfish in the boat for picture taking and measurements, and the 84 Sailfish was released to fight again. From there we decided to troll back to the sea buoy and along the way Bryson was the proud angler of a Wahoo, while his Dad took pictures of his adventure.
Everyone had a good time, but it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
