We have been catching King Mackerel and Bonito in 100 to 200 feet of water. The bite has been good in the morning and afternoon hours. We have been using both strip baits with king buster and mylar skirts for the best bite. Also with a good top spread of baits, we use ballyhoo and strip surface baits and have been catching a few Sailfish. In addition to the King and Bonito bites, we are also catching some Barracuda. The average weight of the King are around 7 to 10 pounds with the Bonito around the same weitht. Summertime is not the very best for Sailfish but we have been catching a one a week. The very best time for the Sails is winter months. The cold fronts cause the fish to migrate South. The King Mackerel bite is good on the deep baits, we use a planner and get the baits 40 to 50 feet down which is the most action. |
