Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Fort Lauderdale FL fishing is one of the top vacation areas to fish in South Florida. With deep waters very close to shore at 1.8 miles and 120 ft. deep off of Fort Lauderdale, gives us move fishing time, allowing the Happy Day Today with the Topshotfishing team to have fishing lines in the water fifteen minutes after leaving the dock.
Bob and Colleen Warnock with sons, 14 year old Ryan and 12 year old Patrick, from NC took advantage of how close we are to the fishing grounds by chartering the Happy Day Today and going fishing after getting off their cruise ship trip. We had winds out of the west at 8-12 mph with blue skies and 1-3 ft seas.
We started off fishing Fort Lauderdale FL at the sea buoy, with two plainers down one with a black and red sea witch in front of a double hook Mullet strip and the other plainer with a pink and white sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip. For surface baits we had two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. Patrick and Ryan were our two junior anglers while Mom and Dad were the photographers. I enjoy taking out young anglers -their excited faces and screams brings a smile to my face – they are the next generation of anglers. Our main concern was Patrick due to an injury he had on his hand from a surfing incident while on the cruise ship, however, this did not stop him from catching fish and enjoying the excitement. I trolled in and out from one artificial wreck to another from 60 ft. of water to 350 ft. while Patrick and Ryan caught Kingfish, Bonitos and an Amberjack.
With good fishing stories to tell classmates back home, it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
