The fishing continues to be consistent in South Florida with a good Mahi bite and a good push of Sailfish down the Ft. Lauderdale coastline. There has been current and bait showing up in large concentrations which is a great indication of the bite. As long as the bait stick around like they have been, no reason the Sailfish, Swordfish, Shark, Mahi and Wahoo would leave this Southern area.
Fort Lauderdale has great structure like sunken ship wrecks, rock structures and reef structure.
We are averaging anywhere from 5 to 7 fish per four hour fishing charter. One of the fish could be a 45 pound Sailfish or a 100 pound Shark.
We are catching Hammerhead Shark, Dusky Shark, Black Tip and a couple Mako Sharks. This is a good month out of Ft. Lauderdale to Shark fish with a dead Bonito or Mackerel on the bottom with three hook rig on a 8/0 reel with a heavy rod. The average shark can take 40 minutes to an hour to catch.
When we target Sailfish, we are using live and dead bait out of the riggers and the kite. We fish in 100 to 175 feet of water to target the Sails and have been very succesful in catching the Sails.
Also we are catching a bunch of Amberjack on the wrecks. Using live bait with a circle hook, there are about 6 wrecks that can almost guarantee an Amberjack.
Our charter boat out of Ft. Lauderdale Florida is offering 4/6/and 8 hour fishing charters.
Please contact us to discuss a fishing charter and will be happy to arrange a trip to your liking.
