Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Tom Obarto along with his friend, Ted Malik, from Pennsylvania chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Fifteen/twenty minutes from the dock, we were deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale by the sea buoy, 1.8 miles from shore in 120 ft. of water. We started out trolling with two #8 plainers down, one with a 2 blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a blue and pink sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip. For top baits, we went with four Bonito strips.

We started trolling north of Fort Lauderdale along the drop off, zig-zagging in and out from 80 ft. out to 250 ft. of water. We headed towards two freighters that were anchored off of Fort Lauderdale in 250 ft. of water. While heading to the two freighters, the angler caught four Tunas and five Bonitos. These freighters have been anchored here for the past few days, waiting for clearance to come into the port in Fort Lauderdale. The freighters act as refuge for bait fish to hide under and in return the predators would also be in the area. As we made our swing around the first freighter, one of the plainer rods bent over Ted was our angler and reeled in a 20 lb. Kingfish. We headed towards the second freighter, marking bait fish, and one of the plainer rods got hooked up Tom was our angler and reeled in a 26 lb. Wahoo, which Dave, our mate, gaffed and brought into the boat. Now the surface bait got hooked up Ted was our angler and reeled in an 18 lb. Wahoo. Great work guys!!

With happy anglers aboard the boat, it was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
