Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Ken Duncan with wife and friends from Illinois chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing off of Fort Lauderdale FL.

As I welcomed Ken aboard the Happy Day Today, I asked him what he was looking to catch. Ken replied that he is a hunter, has many trophies of his adventures from around the world and would like to add a Shark to his accomplishments. Off I went to an area known for producing Sharks. This area is good because of the bottom fish that live there, the Tile fish, the Snappers, and other bottom fish are what the sharks feed on.

We put out one surface Shark bait, one down deep Shark bait which is in 300 feet of water and two kites with two live Goggles Eyes from each kite. The live Gogs are for Sailfish and Mahi since we are in good water, always current, blue water and is again productive for sharks, mahi and sails. As Ken shared his adventures from hunting around the world, the bottom Shark rod sitting in 300 feet of water bent over and immediately screamed line off. David Jackson, our mate cleared all the other fishing lines so that we could concentrate on the one sea monster hooked up. Ken was strapped into the fighting chair and listened intensely to the directions given to him on how to angle the fish. Thirty-five minutes later, a Golden Hammerhead appeared. This fish was well over 8 feet to 9 feet long, the Golden Hammerhead Shark became another accomplishment on Kenís belt. After measurements and pictures were taken for a replica mount, the Shark was released to do battle another day.

With a couple of hours still left in our charter, I suggested we do some trolling to find some fish for dinner. I noticed a weed line forming so I trolled paralele to it and found a board floating on it. With each pass going by the floating board, produced a Mahi Mahi.

With six Mahi Mahiís and a Shark flag on the rigger line, it was time to head back to the dock. If interested in booking a charter in Fort Lauderdale, please contact Captain Zsak at (954)309-7457 Ė
