Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Lorie and Don Mc Nutt from Missouri along with their friends chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL. Today was a typical beautiful Fort Lauderdale day with blue skies and winds were out of the east at 7 mph.
We left the dock and within 15 minutes lines were in the water by the sea buoy off of Fort Lauderdale FL. Today I planned on trolling – in the past few days the Bonitos and Tunas moved into the area in droves. We put two plainers down, one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with four Bonito strips with various sea witches in front.
We started trolling the reefs in 120 to 200 ft. of water, zig zagging back and forth. The objective was to troll north to one of the 34 artificial wrecks that sit off of Fort Lauderdale. As I headed towards the artificial wreck, it did not take long before the action started. One rigger after the other came down as the anglers brought in a combination of Black Fin Tunas and Bonitos. We had constant action in this four hour charter – time just flew by and before you knew it, it was time to head back to the dock. We ended up with a total of 29 fish, a mixture of Bonitos and Tunas.
Everyone had a good time, but it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
