As the new year passes and comes in 2011, so have the palegic species (Mahi, Sailfish, Shark, Wahoo)
The charter boats have been successful in catching the above fish out of Fort Lauderdale Florida. We are seeing nice groups of bait moving through our South Florida waters, this is a great sign due to the predatory fish (palegic species) will be targeting these baits. This Hammerhead Shark was moving along the current off Ft. Lauderdale, FL. When there is a cold front in the North East, this pushes causes the pressure to drop and moves the currents of water, and basically is a dinner bell for fish to migrate and feed.
This is when the Mahi will be offshore 5 to 8 miles feeding good. Or this shark that was moving South heading into the current feeding on bait fish.
Also this is Sailfish season out of Fort Lauderdale and we love to fish for Sailfish. By using live and dead bait, we can see anywhere from one to five Sailfish in a morning or afternoon trip.
