May 1st fishing report. The fish are coming though today. The weather is perfect, wind blowing out of the East at 15 mph and the strong tidal current of 3 knots. Fishing out of Fort Lauderdale, Floida today and the rest of the fleet has been good. There have been Sailfish, Sharks, Black Fin Tuna, King Mackerel and Amberjack are all biting good. The bite should continue through the next three days. The Sail bite has been in 125' of water and the Hammerhead Sharks as also shallow in 125 feet as well. The water is crystal clear blue and the weedlines and current rips are keeping the fish within a tight area.
The size of the Kings have been around 10 to 12 pounds and the Black Fins are around 10 pounds as well. The Sails are ranging in the 45 pound range and the sharks are 150 to 200 pounds. We are catching the fish using both live and dead bait both by trolling and live bait kite fishing.
May has traditionally been a good month to fish namely due to the wind and current.
