Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Jason Bolding, along with his daughters, Megan and Jordan, from Arkansan chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing. Winds were out of the east at 10 mph, seas running 3-4 ft., temperatures in the mid 80ís.
Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, FL, which is located 1.8 miles from shore. We started off with two plainers with double hooked Bonito strips - one with a pink and brown sea witch and the other with a 3 Ĺ blue reflector drone spoon. For surface baits we went with two Bonito strips and two Ballyhoos.
We trolled the reefs and caught a couple of Kingfish and one Bonita. From there, I trolled to the east of Fort Lauderdale where I noticed a color change. As I got to the color change, the current was screaming 3 Ĺ knots to the north. As I trolled the color change which contained some sargassum weeds, one plainer tripped as Megan reeled in a nice Mahi Mahi. From there we just kept picking away at the Mahi Mahiís as Megan, Jordan and Jason all took turns reeling them in. They videoed each other while bringing in their catch and we wound up with nine Mahi Mahiís
With time running out, it was time to head back to Bahia Mar with a good box full of eating fish which we fillet out for them. The anglers retired in the a/c salon for the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
