Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Brian Sesniak, along with his friends, Matt, Alex, Tony and Matt all from Jacksonville chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The boys wanted to leave the cold northern Florida region for some warmer temperatures here in Fort Lauderdale. Winds were out of the east at 4 mph, calm seas, and temperatures in the high 70ís.
Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in the water at our drop off, which is 120 ft. deep at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale. We started off trolling with one plainer down with a blue and white sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with four Ballyhoos and one Bonito strip and a dredge teaser. Five minutes after the baits were in the water, the right rigger came down as the Sailfish exited the water and tail-walked towards the boat. Russ, our mate, cleared the rest of the line; Alex was our angler, and he jumped into the fighting to subdue the Sailfish. Twenty-five minutes later, the fish was brought to the side of the boat for picture taking and was released to fight again. This was Alexís first Sailfish, and he was enthused with his accomplishment.
From there I trolled a little further off shore to 300 ft of water where some birds were working the area. As we trolled around, we wound up catching four Mahi Mahiís and one Tuna, with everyone taking turns bringing in their fish.
It was time to head back so the anglers went into the a/c salon for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. While at the dock, the mate fillet the fish out for their dinner for tonight.
