Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Friends from Ohio, Joe Speicher, Scott Reusing, Jeff Krechting, Joel Feldtamp and Jeremy White, were in Fort Lauderdale for a bachelor party and decided to do some big game deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL with the Topshotfishing team. Winds were out of the east at 18 mph, seas running 4-6 ft., blue skies, and temperature in the low 80’s. The boys wanted to catch a large fish – either a Sailfish or Shark.
We stopped to purchase a dozen live Goggle Eyes from T&T Bait; five minutes after this, two kites were flying with two live Goggles Eyes from each kite and a Shark bait from the rigger at the sea buoy in 160 feet of water in Fort Lauderdale.
Our first catch was a 5 ft. Reef Shark followed by an 11 lb. Mahi Mahi. After resetting, we caught three more Reef Sharks – each of the anglers took turns bringing in their catch. We reset the kites again in 190 ft. of water. On the right short, a dorsal fin came out of the water chasing the live Goggle Eye and was successfully hooked up. Joe was our angler and he hopped into the fighting chair to do battle. The sun gleamed down on the beautiful neon colors of the Sailfish as he came out of the water with numerous jumps. Twenty-five minutes later, Joe brought the Sailfish to the side of the boat, while Mark, our mate, wired the Sailfish – pictures were taken and the fish was released.
After a successful day of fishing, the anglers retired in the a/c salon for the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
