Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Variable winds out of the south, southeast with a light chop 20% chance of rain early to late evening, which calls for a very pleasant day of fishing here in Fort Lauderdale FL.

Don Miller and two sons, Ashton and Don, Jr., from Pennsylvania chartered the Happy Day Today Topshot Fishing to incorporate business with pleasure. As we left the dock, the two sons and father were discussing business. Mitch, our mate, and I discussed what type of fishing we were going to do. With large schools of Bonitos still migrating pass the coast of Fort Lauderdale FL heading south, and the Black Fin Tunas and King fish feeding off of the Bonitos, we planned to target the Bonitos, Tunas and King fish. We started out fishing at the Fort Everglades sea buoy which sits in 120 ft. of water off of Fort Lauderdale FL. We had four Bonito strips and one blue and white jap feather for surface baits and two plainer rods with two Bonito strips, one with a black and purple sea witch and the other with a pink sea witch. I started trolling north off of Fort Lauderdale FL towards an artificial wreck that sits in 125 ft. of water north of the sea buoy. With a total of 36 artificial wrecks here in Fort Lauderdale, FL ranging from 60 ft. of water out to 420 ft. of water, gives you a wide range of water depths to fish in.

Our first bite was a 22 lb Bonito from one of our surface baits, followed by a mix bag of King Fish, Bonitos and Black Fin Tunas. A school of Porpoises moved into the area, feeding off of the school of fish, shutting us down, so I moved out of the area to another wreck in Fort Lauderdale FL and there we caught a 28 lb. Barracuda, which Ashton and Don, Jr. took turns being anglers and reeling the fish in.

With a good catch of fish on the charter boat Happy Day Today Topshot Fishing, it was time to start heading back from our deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL to the dock at Bahia Mar. This ends another successful and adventurous deep sea fishing charter on the Happy Day Today/Topshot Fishing with Captain Zsak.
