We had a nice day fishing this past Sunday. The Bonita bite and the King Mackerel bite have been non stop action through out the entire day. Starting out the trip, within the first hour, we had caught five Bonito and one King Mackerel. The second hour, we added another couple Bonito and one more King Mackerel to the box. What a good start for Brett and his charter especially considering there were two young fishermen on the boat, 5 and 6 years old. That is always a plus when we see the youngsters catching their first fish, let alone the catch we had that morning. Nice to see the boys smiling and their fathers couldn't be prouder of their sons catching a pile of 8 to 12 pound Bonito and a couple Kings in the 12 pound rangeWe did venture offshore for Mahi, however didnt catch the Mahi and or Wahoo.
The afternoon charter was about the same action with the exception of a 30 pound King Mackerel that Cole and his grandfather Sunny caught. Nice catch guys, that is a smoker King, every bit of 30 pounds. Not to mention the pile of Bonito.
Whenever we have kids on the boat, it is nice to see them get all excited and catch a bunch of fish and they were already wanting to know when were they coming back for more.
The rest of the charter fleet saw similar action, the Bonito bite has been very good and the Kings mixed in have been sizeable ones. The depth of water off Fort Lauderdale has been anywhere from 90' out to 175' of water. The best bait has been strip baits with a skirts that are on the down riggers and the surface baits are naked Ballyhoo's.
