Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak
John Palma along with his children, Nicole, Nina and Niko, from Chicago chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Winds were out of the east at 10 mph, seas running 2-3 ft., with temperatures in the mid 80’s. John Palma who owns Cameo Electric, Inc., an electrical contracting company, was vacationing with his family in Fort Lauderdale, and made a reservation to fish with the Topshotfishing team. As the Palma’s boarded the boat, they were greeted by the Topshotfishing team, and put in a request to catch a Shark.
Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, I headed out to the sea buoy located in 120 ft. of water in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore, and put out two plainers down and three surface baits with one daisy chain teaser. As we trolled the reefs, the family took turns bringing in four Kingfish, four Bonitos and one Mutton Snapper.
It was now time to do some Shark fishing. I headed out to the Shark grounds located in 350 ft. of water north of Fort Lauderdale. We put out three Shark baits – one surface, one midrange and one bottom. In a short time, the line on the surface bait screamed off of the 80 International Reel – hooked up!!!! John hopped into the fighting chair and the fun began. With a tug of war that lasted 45 minutes, our mate, Dave grabbed a hold of the leader and wired in a 9 ft. Hammerhead Shark estimating 350 lbs. for picture taking. The Shark was released to fight again.
With smiles on everyone’s faces, it was time to head back – the anglers retired into the a/c salon for the relaxing trip back to the Bahia Mar Dock located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
