John and Scottie from Boston Mass., chartered us for an afternoon charter from 1 to 5 pm this last Saturday.
The guys wanted some steady action as well as a big game fish. I suggested we start the trip trolling the reef from 100' out to 175' targeting King Mackerel, Bonita and Barracuda, then try for a Sailfish or a Shark. With a few hours the guys had a three fish each. Now for the last half of the trip, John and Scottie were ready to target the larger game fish.
We set four live baits on the surface and one dead bait near the bottom of the reef in 250' of water (which is about a mile and a half or two miles off the beach).
After an hour of fishing, the bottom bait got hit. The rod started peeling out line and game on, a nice shark was on. Fought the shark for about 45 minutes and brought him along side the boat. Snapped pictures, and released the Dusky shark unharmed.
All in all a great day. Weather was not too hot with the Easterly winds, calm seas, box of fish and a nice release on a Dusky Shark.
Thanks again to John and Scottie and hope to have you back again fishing with us aboard the Happy Day Today and Topshotfishing team.
