Rough seas, winds out of the north, northeast at 15-20 mph, seas running 5-8 ft. With the wind out of the northeast for the last couple of days, it pushed the blue indigo waters into the beach. Andy Williams and friends from Indiana chartered the Happy Day Today to do some deep sea salt water fishing in Ft. Lauderdale, South Florida. We started off by purchasing a dozen Goggle Eyes from Bud the baitman.

We started trolling around and found a nice little rip in 130 ft. of water off of the sea buoy in Ft. Lauderdale, South Florida. We put our two kites up with two live Goggle Eyes on each kite. Before the second kite was up, we had 4 Mahi Mahiís trying to eat the bait on the right short kite. As I looked over to the left kite, there were another three Mahi Mahiís eating the left short kite bait. As Andyís friends fought the Mahi Mahiís and brought them to the boat, Mitch gaffed and put them into the fish box.

After going back to the rip and resetting, a 26 lb King Fish sky rocketed on the right long kite bait. Large King Fish are nicknamed Smokers or Anacondas. The initial run screamed the line out of the TLD 25 Shamano reel. After catching numerous Mahi Mahiís ranging from 5 Ė 25 lbs., and King Fish, our fish box was full. Mitch our mate looked up at me saying that this certainly was a happy day today of fishing. As we were just about returning to trolling, I told Mitch to use the live bait well to put future catches in the live bait well. After trolling and catching Mahi Mahiís, King Fish, Bonitas, and Black Fin Tunas, our live bait well was getting full too.

On our way back to the dock, I suggested for Andy to visit one of our local restaurants that will occasionally prepare your fresh caught fish for your dinner, especially the Tuna for sushi, which was one of Andyís favorite.

Andy remarked that this was a fantastic fishing trip, and asked if we were available to do some Shark fishing the following day. To his luck, we were available and Andy chartered the Happy Day Today for the following day for Shark fishing, but that is a story for our next fishing report.
