Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

We had father and son teams out today – Henry Pienkos and his son Shayne, along with George Sanchez and his sons, Tim and Nick, chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

The morning started out cloudy with rain and thunderstorms reported for noon. The wind was blowing 10-15 mph with grey skies. The guys were looking for action with some edible fish, which is exactly what they got, along with some wind, wave and rain.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling with two #8 plainers down and four surface baits. The first fish we caught was a Bonito with the action continuing throughout the morning with the anglers catching another five Bonitos and three Kingfish. All of our deep bites were on a pink sea witch with a double hooked Bonito strip. Our mate, Matt, did a good job keeping the lines clear of weeds and always with fresh baits.

Our next fish was a real nice Black Fin Tuna – Shayne was the angler, and he did a good job reeling in the fish. We kept trolling and got a killer bite on the green sea witch – a Sailfish started jumping just as soon as the rod bent over. Nick was the angler and jumped into the fighting chair to do battle – he did a good job bringing the Sailfish along the side the boat. Pictures were taken and Matt removed the hooks and released the Sailfish to fight another day.

With a total catch of five Bonitos, three Kingfish, one Tuna and one Sailfish, it was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
